About Sabertooth Clinic
“To treat disease, one must first understand the root; to understand the root, one must know the person — their form, spirit, and way of life.”
— Lingshu, Chapter 8
Welcome
Step into a space where your body, mind, and spirit are treated as a whole. Through personalized acupuncture and holistic care, each session is designed to help ease tension, support balance, and reconnect you with your body’s natural rhythms.
My approach is individualized and grounded in Traditional Chinese Medicine in the understanding that no two people experience health in the same way.
My journey into Traditional Chinese Medicine began in 2017, though my interest in healing started much earlier. I originally planned to pursue psychology, which shaped my understanding of the deep connection between mental, emotional, and physical well-being. I was drawn to Chinese medicine because it provides a framework for addressing these connections while caring for the whole person rather than focusing solely on isolated symptoms.
I earned my Master’s in Acupuncture from Midwest College of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. I am a Wisconsin Licensed Acupuncturist and Diplomate of Acupuncture (NCBAHM)™, having earned national board certification through the National Certification Board for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. I am also a Certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage Practitioner and Reiki Master, allowing me to draw from multiple therapeutic approaches while tailoring care to each individual.
I am committed to continuing education and continually deepening my clinical skills. I am currently completing my professional massage therapy education at Blue Sky School of Professional Massage as I work toward Wisconsin massage therapy licensure.
Above all, I want Sabertooth Clinic to be a place where you can slow down, feel heard, and receive care that respects the complexity of who you are. It is an honor to support people through different seasons of their health, and I look forward to being part of your path toward greater resilience and well-being.
Shia Ames, M.Ac., L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCBAHM)™, C-MLD

"I had my first ever acupuncture session with Shia and holy cats I can’t wait for more sessions in the future! Shia is incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and passionate about her work and it shows. I learned a lot from her in just the first session! She has a calming & grounding presence that helps you feel at ease, relaxed, & safe. She asked gentle but informative questions that got to the heart of my concerns, history, & goals for treatment. Her communication is kind and professional, and she really takes the time to create a treatment plan that is personalized to the individual. I love that she suggests & uses different modalities and techniques depending on what’s going on.
I also love that she came to my home for treatment! Being comfortable in your own environment can make so much difference in an experience, so I really appreciate that she offers that. I was worried that my 2 cats would interfere with the session (my kitties are both very attached to me & need to be involved in what i’m doing at all times haha), I had even offered to put them in a separate room for our session, but Shia said no problem! She calmly & gently kept my kitties at a safe distance the whole time so they could still be around, while also maintaining safety & sterility. That is an incredible feat in itself!!
She made sure I was comfortable and was very intentional & thoughtful about the session from start to finish. She had a great balance of checking in + also giving space during the treatment so I felt attended to, but not smothered.
Shia’s dedication to her practice & profession is beautiful! I always learn something new when we speak, as she is constantly learning and sharing her wealth of knowledge with others. I will definitely be coming back & would recommend her services to loved ones in a heart beat. Thank you, Shia!!"

"Shia is absolutely awesome. She asks thoughtful, insightful questions that really get to the root of what’s going on — both physically and emotionally. Her deep knowledge of acupuncture and herbal medicine is apparent, as well as muscular skeletal system - She can pinpoint tension patterns and the underlying causes of pain in a way that feels both intuitive and highly skilled.
Treatments with Shia are calm, stress-free, and deeply restorative. She creates such a safe, welcoming space that you immediately feel at ease and cared for.
Her advice on herbs always feels tailored and practical — not overwhelming — and you leave feeling empowered to take better care of yourself. Shia has an intuitive, grounded presence and a genuine gift for helping people feel balanced and supported.
I always walk out feeling lighter, calmer, and more like myself. Highly recommend"!

"This was my first time experiencing acupuncture. It was a very interesting and calming experience! I was so relaxed it felt like I was floating. The ones in my ear seemed to have the most effect on me. Almost immediately I felt like something was releasing. 100% will do again! Shia made me feel so comfortable and well cared for".
